on the River Kwai
Episode 65: Feast at Keerithara Retreat on the River Kwai
After arriving from Bangkok, we settled into our hotel and then headed out to Keerithara Retreat on the River Kwai for a beautiful feast during the evening. This place was spectacular—the setting, the atmosphere, and the staff were all top-notch. This dinner also marked the first night of our St. Andrew team’s third trip, and we were thrilled to welcome our newest member, John, to the team.

A Spectacular Setting

As you enter, you're greeted by an open front space with dining areas to the right and left, both beautifully appointed. You then walk out onto the decks, which descend in several levels down to the water. We had the pleasure of dining on one of the water pontoons, offering a breathtaking view of the famous bridge over the River Kwai. Dining with such a view is something you can only dream of; it’s truly a spectacular place to enjoy a meal.
As a riverside restaurant, Keerithara Retreat serves fresh seafood dishes that pair well with the scenic views of the River Kwai.
The restaurant offers a mix of Thai and international cuisine, catering to a variety of tastes.

A Fantastic Feast
We indulged in an absolute feast, starting with crispy spring rolls and perfectly fried calamari, followed by an array of seafood dishes, including succulent prawns. Each dish was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The freshness of the seafood was particularly noteworthy, making every bite a delight. Complemented by a variety of sides and dipping sauces, our meal was nothing short of extraordinary.

Food Review at Keerithara Retreat

Seafood Prawns:
The seafood prawns were the highlight of the evening. Fresh and succulent, they were cooked just right to retain their natural sweetness. Each prawn was tender and flavorful, showcasing the quality of the ingredients used.
Calamari:
The fresh calamari, topped with Thai jam, was just fantastic. The jam had a sweet and chili flavor with a nutty undertone that perfectly complemented the tender calamari. We only had five bites to a plate, so if you're in a group, be sure to order a couple of these—they're that good.
Spring Rolls:
The spring rolls were crispy and delicious, with a perfect balance of filling and crunch. Each bite offered a delightful combination of textures, making them an ideal start to our meal.
